Chapter 1. Transportation Program at NASA Headquarters
1.1.2 The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Headquarters operates a motor pool of government vehicles. NASA Government employees can use these vehicles for official government related business. Contractors may also use these vehicles when authorized in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Federal Management Regulation (FMR). Employees who are eligible to operate a vehicle from the motor pool must follow all of the requirements as set forth in this policy. This policy also applies to employees whose position description requires them to drive as a part of employment. 1.2.1 The Branch Chief, Emergency Management and Administrative Services is responsible for ensuring the policy is in line with achieving maximum economy and efficiency in the management of the NASA Headquarters Government-owned or Government-leased vehicles.
1.2.2 The NASA HQ Transportation Officer is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the policy is in line and the identification, registration, inspection, official use, and reporting are conducted in compliance with all applicable NASA and Federal regulations.
1.2.3 The driver of Government Owned or Leased Vehicles is responsible for following all rules and regulations associated with the property in their control per NPR 4200.1 and for protecting and conserving property entrusted to them.
