As directed in the NASA Associate Administrator's memorandum on protecting space systems, dated February 1, 2019, NASA-STD-1006, Space System Protection Standard, issued October 29, 2019, was coordinated extensively with Mission Directorates and Center Chief Engineers. To expedite compliance with the memorandum and NASA-STD-1006, multiple policy documents, including NPR 1058.1, were identified for language adjustments to direct use of appropriate protection standards. NID 1058.127, NASA Enterprise Protection Program, issued May 7, 2020, was implemented to expedite two requirements for program and project managers. Since program and project managers are already operating in accordance the memorandum and NASA-STD-1006, these requirements have been incorporated in paragraph 2.3.1f of this directive.
