PREFACE
P.1 PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to establish procedures, responsibilities, and guidelines for the identification, maintenance and protection of NASA Headquarters (HQ) vital records, regardless of format. These requirements and guiding principles are designed to establish a vital records program that adheres to emergency management responsibilities in accordance with NASA Policy Requirement 1040.1, NASA Continuity of Operations (COOP) Planning Procedures.
P.2 APPLICABILITY
This is applicable to NASA HQ organizations.

P.5 MEASUREMENT/VERIFICATION
The Headquarters (HQ) Vital Records Manager will conduct an annual call to HQ primary organizations to review/revalidate/change the HQ vital records inventory. All HQ primary organizations shall respond to the annual call and the Vital Records manager will verify that vital records are stored at the designated offsite facility and updated in accordance with the established cycle.
