Chapter 7. Exceptions to Parking Criteria
7.1 Exceptions to the above policy may be granted from time to time as a reasonable accommodation for: (1) Qualified persons with disabilities and; (2) Short term project/assignment with a definite end date.
7.2 Disabled civil service personnel may request a handicapped-parking permit by submitting a medical certificate from their personal physician, along with a request for a parking permit to the Headquarters Parking Administrator. Only those with a handicapped license plate/hanging tag will be allowed to park in reserved handicapped spaces. Medical certifications are renewed annually.
7.3 A request for a parking permit due to a temporary medical condition may be granted for the duration of the problem. Permission to park can only be granted upon presentation of a written letter from either a private physician or the NASA physician detailing the short-term disability, including the specific dates.
