PREFACE

P.1 PURPOSE

a. This Headquarters Procedural Requirements (HQPR) establishes responsibilities and requirements for all NASA Headquarters employees, including managers and supervisors, who request, receive, coordinate, review, process, and decide requests for reasonable accommodation at NASA Headquarters (HQ).

b. NPR 3713.1 Reasonable Accommodation Procedures for Individuals with Disabilities is the authoritative NASA- wide policy for Reasonable Accommodation across the agency and applies to employees at NASA HQ. This HQPR sets forth HQ-specific requirements.

P.2 APPLICABILITY

a. This HQPR is applicable to NASA HQ civil service employees, including full-time, part-time, and temporary employees. NASA job applicants are also allowed reasonable accommodation during the interview process, however, that process is described in detail in the NPR 3713.1.

b. In this HQPR, all mandatory actions (i.e., requirements) are denoted by statements containing the term "shall." The terms: "may" or "can" denote discretionary privilege or permission, "should" denotes a good practice and is recommended, but is not required, "will" denotes expected outcome, and "are/is" denotes descriptive material.

P.5 MEASUREMENT/VERIFICATION

NASA HQ will periodically evaluate the operations and success of the HQ reasonable accommodation program, and cooperate with periodic data gathering and other evaluation activities including annual reporting to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
