Appendix C: Timeframe Summary


Action
Timeframe
1. Informal decision. Within 10 days from receipt of grievance.
2. Filing formal grievance.

Within 5 days from receipt of informal decision.

3. Determination of grievance acceptance in formal procedure.

Within 5 days following receipt of employee's written presentation.
4. Grievance forwarded to Deciding Official by Human Resources Director. Within 5 days from receipt of grievance.
5. Referral to Fact Finder (if appropriate). Within 10 days of receipt of grievance.
6. Fact Finder's report to employee for comment. Within 30 days following conclusion of inquiry.
7. Employee/representative comments to Fact Finder. Within 5 days.
8. Fact Finder's report to Deciding Official Within 35 days following conclusion of inquiry.
9. Final decision. Within 15 days following receipt of Fact Finder's report or 30 days from receipt of the grievance.

The Deciding Official, Human Resources Director, or Fact Finder may extend any timeframe by providing written explanation in the grievance file with a copy to the grievant and representative, if any.
