Preface

P.1 Purpose

This NASA Procedural Requirements (NPR) provides responsibilities, procedures, and requirements for the conduct of the NASA Exhibits Program in order to educate and inform the public about the accomplishments and program goals sought and achieved in NASA's aeronautics and space program.

P.2 Applicability

a. This NASA Procedural Requirement is applicable to NASA Headquarters and NASA Centers, including Component Facilities and Technical and Service Support Centers.

b. This language applies to Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) (a Federally Funded Research and Development Center), other contractors, grant recipients, or parties to agreements only to the extent specified or referenced in the appropriate contracts, grants, or agreements.

c. In this directive, all mandatory actions (i.e., requirements) are denoted by statements containing the term "shall." The terms: "may" or "an" denote discretionary privilege or permission, "should" denotes a good practice and is recommended, but not required, "will" denotes expected outcome, and "are/is" denotes descriptive material.

d. In this directive, all document citations are assumed to be the latest version unless otherwise noted.

P.5 Measurement/Verification

a. Center Exhibits Managers, as delegated in NPD1387.1, will provide a quarterly report of the exhibit activity at their Center to the NASA Headquarters Exhibit Program Manager. The report will conform to guidance provided by the Communications Coordinating Council (CCC).

b. The NASA Headquarters Exhibits Program Manager will evaluate the performance of the NASA Exhibits Program by compiling the quarterly Exhibit Reports as directed by the CCC, referenced above, and developing semiannual statistics for dissemination to the Center Exhibit Program Managers and the Headquarters Office of Communications management.

c. Periodic assessments will be conducted at NASA Headquarters to determine if additional data collection is required. If so, NASA Headquarters and relevant NASA Centers will discuss and agree upon prior to implementation.
