Chapter 10. Requests to Return to Regular Employment

10.1 Handling Requests

10.1.1 Requests to return to regular employment are expected to be rare except when the employee is selected for a vacant position through the normal hiring process (e.g., through a vacancy announcement).

10.1.2 An employee not selected through the normal hiring process may request to return to regular employment by submitting a written request through the immediate supervisor to the HR Center office. Such a request should be submitted at least 90 days before the end date of the phased retirement period.

10.1.2.1 Approving officials will issue a written decision and provide the decision to the HR Center office to provide to the employee and process.

10.1.3 A return to regular employment will be effected before the end date of the phased retirement period.

10.1.4 A phased retiree who returns to regular employment is not eligible to return to phased retirement.
