HANDY SERVICES

SERVICE: Provides services such as hanging bulletin boards, art work, and making minor repairs to standard office furniture and other equipment.

PROCEDURE: Personnel may request these services by submitting NHQ Form 189, "Request for Move Services," at least 5 work days prior to the date the services are required. Forms should be submitted to the office listed below.

HEADS UP (This service is provided by InfoCom)

SERVICE: NASA Headquarters Heads Up is a listing of news items, produced both electronically and in hard copy on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week. The purpose of Heads Up is to alert employees of announcements for training, meetings, and special events, Headquarters services, personnel/payroll notices, etc. Information should be of interest to the majority of Headquarters employees. Paper copies are posted on Heads Up boards located at each elevator, and the electronic version is posted to the Heads Up web page (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/headsup) and sent via e-mail to all Headquarters employees and individual subscribers outside Headquarters. Heads Up items are brief and concise but often point to a web page for details, which can be accessed directly from the e-mail version of Heads Up using Eudora 3.0 (just point and double click).

PROCEDURE: Requests should be sent to InfoCom via e-mail 5 days prior to publication date. The deadline for changes is 10 a.m. the day prior to publication. Items are subject to editing and reformatting, and are published approximately 2 times. All items are required to have a point of contact (name and phone number).

HIT 25 (This service is provided by InfoCom)

SERVICE: Headquarters Internal Television (HIT) - Channel 25. Items are displayed electronically in slide show format and broadcasted continuously on televisions near the elevators on all floors at Headquarters. HIT 25 includes information of general interest to all employees, such as announcements for training, meetings, and special events, HQ services, personnel/payroll notices, etc. HIT 25 provides for a more visual effect and, in most cases, an immediate broadcast.

When a holiday occurs on a Saturday, the Friday immediately preceding is a legal public holiday for employees whose basic workweek is Monday through Friday. When a holiday occurs on a Sunday, the Monday immediately following is a legal public holiday for employees whose basic workweek is Monday through Friday.

HOLIDAYS (continued)

PROCEDURE: A properly executed SF 71, "Application for Leave," is required for requesting leave. For special instances of leave (such as LWOP over 30 days and excused absence), guidance will be provided by the Headquarters Human Resources Management Division, Code CP.

CONTACT: For questions regarding leave administration and the approval process, contact your Personnel Management Specialist. The Headquarters Human Resources Management Division is located in HQ, Room 6G80, Code CP. HQ BULLETIN (This service is provided by InfoCom)

SERVICE: A newsletter is produced in hard copy the second and fourth Monday of each month and mailed to all Headquarters employees and subscribed retirees. Copies are also available in the Headquarters Library and the Headquarters Information Center. This bulletin includes news about people and events at NASA and within Headquarters, NASA programs and missions, career development and personnel issues, Exchange Council activities, NASA History, NASA-related legislative activity, classified ads and notices.

PROCEDURE: Requests should be sent to InfoCom via e-mail. All items are required to have a point of contact (name and phone number). The deadlines for submitting short news items and classified advertisements are published in each issue of the Headquarters Bulletin. HQ EXCHANGE STORE, NASA HEADQUARTERS

SERVICE: The HQ Exchange Store is part of the NASA Exchange System which is managed by the Headquarters Exchange Council. The store is intended primarily for the use of Headquarters employees, members of their families, guests of employees, Government contract employees, and visitors to Headquarters.

The store provides a convenient service to employees in the sale of general merchandise, radios, calculators, household wares and appliances, space-related souvenir items, NASA business cards, film processing, etc.

PROCEDURE: The store is open daily from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
