PROCEDURE: Each Headquarters office has a designated point-of-contact (POC) authorized to coordinate warehouse storage and distribution services. Each POC must forward a completed NHQ Form 236 "Warehousing Service Request," to initiate action to store items and/or distribution stored items. Specify the date needed on the NHQ Form 236 and Fax to (301) 286-0348.

WORK SCHEDULES

SERVICE: The official work schedule for NASA Headquarters employees is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Any deviation from this schedule must be approved by the supervisor and the Headquarters Human Resources Management Division. Special work schedules may also be approved for other circumstances involving extended coverage of office business and accommodating for carpools, transportation or family requirements.

Alternative work schedules (AWS) consist of a flexitime program and a compressed work schedule for all full-time, part-time, and non-intermittent employees. Flexitime provides for a basic 40-hour workweek consisting of five 8-hour days to be worked between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. (Monday through Friday). The compressed work schedule-commonly known as 5-4/9-is one in which an employee meets the 80-hour work requirement by working eight 9-hour days (between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.), one 8-hour day (between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.), and taking one day off during each biweekly pay period. A minimum of 30 minutes for lunch must be added to the 8 or 9 hours of work per day, which must be taken during the middle of the day.
